A full month of substance-free events, activities, and community connection

Every September, Recovery Month at EPIC will bring people together throughout London with more ways to connect, participate, and try something new.

New events are being added to this year’s calendar.

Visit NEXUS for upcoming activities, locations, and preregistration.

The SoCon Shift

EPIC Recovery created The Sober Connection to make substance-free activities and community connections easier to find.

In 2023 and 2024, that vision came to Dundas Place through SoCon, The Sober Connection Convention. What began as a one-day gathering is now becoming Recovery Month at EPIC—an annual September campaign with a full month of opportunities to connect and take part.

Beyond September, The Sober Connection will continue bringing people together through substance-free community activities throughout the year.

Something different to do. More ways to connect.

Recovery Month activities may include:

  • Nature walks and movement

  • Yoga, tai chi, and wellness

  • Music and community guitar jams

  • Books and creative activities

  • Food and community gatherings

  • Comedy and improv

  • Opportunities to give back

  • Recovery and family-support meetings

  • More substance-free community events

You do not need to identify as being in recovery to participate. Check individual event listings for audience and registration information.

Find everything in NEXUS

NEXUS is the main place to view the calendar to see Recovery Month activities, find event details, see social connections beyond Recovery Month, and preregister when advance registration is required.

Events are still being added, so check the calendar regularly.

NEXUS is EPIC Recovery’s web-based community app. Access it directly through our website—not through an app store.

Why The Sober Connection exists

At EPIC Recovery, we believe recovery should make room for more life—not less. It should include friendship, laughter, purpose, new experiences, and the chance to give something back.

The Sober Connection was created from that belief. Our mission is to bring people together through welcoming substance-free events and activities where no one has to explain why they came or fit a particular label to belong. Some people are in recovery. Some love someone who is. Some are reconsidering the place substances have in their lives. Others simply want a different way to connect. All are welcome.

As a social enterprise shaped by lived experience, EPIC understands that lasting well-being grows through genuine connection, shared experience, and having something meaningful to contribute. The Sober Connection creates room for all of it: meeting people, discovering resources, trying something new, giving back, and experiencing how much life can hold when connection is at the centre.

Recovery Month at EPIC expands this mission every September with a full month of activities and community events. The calendar will change and grow, but the purpose will remain: to reduce stigma, strengthen community, and make substance-free connection easier to find—not only during Recovery Month but throughout the year.

SoCon is part of our story

and always will be.

SoCon brought music, food, creativity, activities, and community connection to Dundas Place in 2023 and 2024.

We remain deeply grateful to every volunteer, vendor, performer, community partner, and attendee who helped bring SoCon to life. Their time, generosity, and willingness to take part showed what can happen when a community comes together around connection.

Recovery Month at EPIC carries that experience forward—turning one day of connection into a full month, every September.
