Improv comedy for Recovery

Laugh. Heal. Connect.

Ready to loosen up, laugh out loud, and build skills that actually support your recovery?

Join us for a 6-week Improv & Recovery Group starting August 12th, every Tuesday from 6:30–8:30 pm at our new Wellington Road South location. This one-of-a-kind series blends the fun of improv comedy with real recovery strategies to help you cope with stress, manage social anxiety, and boost your emotional flexibility—all while having a great time.

No experience necessary. Just a willingness to show up, be a little silly, and grow.

Why improv in recovery?

  • Teaches how to stay present and respond in the moment

  • Builds confidence, self-expression, and communication

  • Reduces stress and releases feel-good endorphins

  • Helps break the cycle of isolation through laughter and connection

  • Encourages self-compassion and taking risks in a safe space

Cost: $200 plus HST.

A limited number of free spots will be redeemed through Recovery Robinhood for those unable to cover the cost.

Instructor: Dean Anderson, RPC, MPCC, ICADC
Dean has been part of the improv community for over a decade—performing, hosting, and teaching. As a certified addiction professional with lived experience, Dean has used improv as a powerful tool for healing and personal growth. He has taught these principles at wellness conferences, educational institutions, and to mental health professionals across North America. Dean brings a warm, down-to-earth approach that blends humour with practical recovery strategies.

Perfect for those who are already sober (even just a few weeks), feeling stuck, or simply curious about what recovery looks like beyond abstinence. This session is rooted in compassion, shame reduction, and empowerment — no pressure, no preaching, just guidance.

Space is limited. A short application form helps us ensure it’s the right fit for you. Learn more on our blog.
