Couples Workshop
Navigating Recovery Together
Dates: Thursday Evenings. January 29th, February 5th, February 12th
Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: EPIC Recovery, 743 Wellington Road, London, Ontario
Early recovery is a pivotal and transformative period, and it can bring new challenges for couples. When one partner is working on substance-free living and the other is learning how to support without overfunctioning, communication and trust may feel tested.
Recovery does not only affect the individual. It can reshape the relationship itself. Some couples may notice they are deeply connected, yet moving at different emotional rhythms. We refer to this experience as the ‘dissonant duo’.
This three part workshop offers a safe, structured, and compassionate space where couples can slow down, strengthen communication, and begin rebuilding trust in ways that respect both partners.
What This Workshop Can Offer
Across six hours, couples are introduced to practical communication and boundary tools that may be used in everyday life. The focus is on increasing clarity, reducing misunderstandings, and supporting healthier patterns of connection.
The three part structure allows time between sessions to reflect and practice new skills, which can support deeper integration rather than information overload. Guided exercises, thoughtful discussion, and shared reflection help couples explore what support can look like without losing themselves or the relationship. It can help replace patterns of enabling, resentment, or miscommunication with clarity, compassion, and shared goals.
Workshop Includes:
Guided Handouts & Worksheets to reinforce insights and support continued growth
Interactive Exercises & Discussions to deepen empathy and connection
Communication & Boundary Tools that work in day-to-day life, not just in the workshop
Shared Recovery Planning Strategies to keep you moving forward together
Expert Guidance from Dean Anderson, who blends lived experience with professional insight
Peer Support & Shared Perspectives from other couples navigating similar challenges, offering solidarity through shared recovery dynamics
Who Should Attend:
Couples where one partner is in early recovery and the other is supporting
Partners seeking to move from over-responsibility into a balanced, collaborative approach to growth
Couples wanting to rebuild intimacy, redefine boundaries, and learn supportive communication
Those committed to strengthening both sobriety and relationship health
Key Take Aways:
Couples may leave with clearer communication, renewed perspective, and a more intentional plan for navigating recovery together. The goal is not perfection, but steadier connection and shared understanding.
