MIKE LOBB | Sensei, Meditation instructor

Mike has been practicing meditation since 2007. Having experimented with several modalities including yoga, vipassana, and zen, he found his way to the London Zen Centre in 2015, becoming a formal student of Gaudry Roshi that same year. He received permission to start teaching in 2018 and became a Sensei in 2021.

Having come to the end of a long career in software development, systems architecture, and technology leadership, Mike now dedicates his time to Zen, the recovery community, and getting out into nature at every opportunity. He is an avid camper and lover of the peace, solitude, and genuine connection that the natural world offers us so generously.

Practice Meditation every Monday with Mike.

Sitting in Recovery

If addiction can be thought of as a means to escape our perceived reality (our feelings, emotions, and the situations we find ourselves in), then meditation can be thought of as deeply connecting with reality as it actually is. In this way, meditation, as a practice, is an antidote to our perpetual need to escape. By delving into it, we see the world and ourselves as we truly are; and find less and less need to escape it.

Join us as we learn about meditation, how we practice it in our lives, and explore its connection with addiction recovery.

Learn more about meditation and recovery on our blog.
